Mockup of top after the first round of piecing. This should finish at around 40 inches square. I might make it a bit longer/taller but probably not any wider.
I had two pieces flipped in one area so the colors don't line up in this shot.
After looking at some other quilt patterns and blogs, I see this is a modified version of a traditional rail fence but I got the idea of using the two blocks together and random color pattern from a design I saw on the blog sticksandbubbles by Diana. http://sticksandbubbles.blogspot.com/2011/09/so-i-cut-it.html
